LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE:
What do Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs have in common?
They’re all college drop-outs.
While that doesn’t mean that a college education is meaningless, it does imply that there are a few things that college doesn’t teach you — and they matter.
On the latest edition of the Inner Edison Podcast with Ed Parcaut, we discussed the valuable education you receive from becoming an entrepreneur.
Although Zander Fryer didn’t drop out of college, he did receive a valuable education through his journey into entrepreneurship.
In his new book, Sh*t You Don’t Learn in College, Zander shares some of the secrets he’s learned while building a multiple seven-figure coaching business in only a few short years and how you can do it too!
If you’ve ever wondered if there’s a better way to earn more money without trudging through the traditional path, you won’t want to miss some of the nuggets he had to share.
You Have to Rip Off the Band-Aid!
As a gifted student of mathematics and science, Zander had a clear career path ahead of him. He enrolled at UCLA and signed up for the Air Force ROTC program to help pay for his tuition.
It was there that he would find his passion for mentoring and leading others. For a moment, he thought about becoming a pilot after college, but a DUI in his senior year would derail any chance of that dream.
Still, he landed on his feet. He took a job out of college working as an engineer for CISCO, where he represented iconic brands like Facebook, NBC, Disney, and more.
It earned him a hefty sum of money, but he wasn’t happy. So he quit — cold turkey. No notice.
In other words, he ripped off the band-aid.
Question: Would you leave a job that earned over $200,000 per year if you didn’t feel fulfilled?
That’s what Zander did!
He graduated college only to become a corporate drop-out.
Within a few months, all he had to show for it was a cleaned-out savings account and 25K in credit card debt.
Zander would put his credit card to good use. He bought every course he could find that would teach him the skills to become a successful life coach.
The result: He earned six figures within his first four months and earned his first six-figure month at the end of his first year. Pretty impressive.
There Are Two Sides to Building a Coaching Business
Nine out of every ten life coaches quit within the first four months.
That’s a statistic from The Huffington Post that illuminates the odds that many of Zander’s peers were facing. While he was able to earn six figures in that same time, many coaches were going belly up and quitting.
Zander found that many coaches wished to learn more about how he beat the odds, so he decided to conduct a small experiment. Could he teach others how to beat the odds as he did?
It seemed like an interesting hypothesis. With no formal syllabus, he started mentoring other coaches. What he found out was he had a proven formula.
Now that proven formula has a name — High Impact Coaching.
The experience taught him a valuable lesson that, up to that time, had eluded him.
There are two sides to building any coaching business:
- Coaching Expertise
- Business Expertise
Most people have the coaching expertise but lack the business expertise to make it work. That’s where Zander comes in.
The Right Mentorship Matters
Today, Zander helps an army of beginner coaches replicate his success.
