LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE:

There are a million and one ways to be misunderstood.

However, there is only one way to be impossible to misunderstand.

Many coaches seem content to stand in front of fancy cars they don’t own or walk into mansions they are renting by the day — but is that reality?

This way of presenting yourself online is a crash course on how not to be a coach.

On the latest episode of the Inner Edison Podcast with Ed Parcaut, we discussed the importance of becoming impossible to misunderstand and how that can influence your coaching business.

Steve Sims has seen and done it all. As an accomplished entrepreneur, he ran the largest concierge business in the world exclusively for celebrities and the one percent.

His clients affectionately call him The Real Life Wizard of Oz.

As an author, he has taught others The Art of Making Things Happen, opening readers up to his raw honesty and how he uses it to influence his business.

As a coach, Steve’s honest nature and passion for growth helps his clients to push their limits of what they think is possible.

Don’t Just Find a Coach. Find the Right Coach!

It’s important to have a coach.

However, it’s more important to find the right coach.

If you want to find the right coach, you need to focus on these things:

  1. Find someone who has done what you’re trying to do.
  2. Find someone who can challenge you.
  3. Find someone who holds you accountable.

Look at the credibility and the substance.

Don’t look at the Instagram feed and their amount of followers.

Also, don’t be afraid to look for a coach outside of your industry.

Great coaching is the ability of one person to communicate the solution to another person.

In essence. it’s about going back to basics:

  • Communication
  • Relationships
  • Connectivity
  • Establishing yourself as a solution
  • Focusing on the client’s needs, not yours

If you can find a coach who checks all of these boxes, you know you’ve got the right coach!

Hey, Coaches! Amplify You.

There are a lot of people who need coaching. Not all of them are right for you!

If you want to become impossible to misunderstand, you need to be yourself.

When you are yourself, you save a TON of energy.

It takes zero energy to be yourself. That saves your energy to focus on helping your clients.

People want to understand what you can bring to their life. When you are yourself, you repel those clients that aren’t right for you and draw in the people who will best identify with you.

Here are some ways to find out if you are confusing potential clients:

  • Do you act differently on stage than you act off stage?
  • Does your profile reflect your authentic nature?
  • Does your website focus on you or your clients?

These questions help you assess if you are Amplifying You!

Focus On Your Brilliance, Then Get Out of the Way!

Hopefully, by now, you understand the importance of being authentic.

The simple fact of becoming impossible to misunderstand can change your business. While you may easily know who you are, you may not know how to promote it.

Here’s a great practice:

  1. Create three interlocking circles.
  2. In the bottom circle, put all the things you hate to do in your business.
  3. In the middle circle put the things you are competent in, but not the best at.
  4. In the top circle, place the things you are a gold medal winner in.

You’ll find that your top circle will have one or two things. That is your circle.

Circles two and three are elements of your business to outsource.

One element may be branding. If that sounds like you, Sims Media can help.

Sims Media is your one-stop shop to help you create a brand that is impossible to misunderstand.
