We spoke to Martha Krejci about her unique journey into entrepreneurism and what prompted her to leave her cushy corporate job and guaranteed salary to start a new business.

Martha’s Compelling Why

In 2016, Martha was working in a tiny office that looked like it hadn’t been redesigned since the ‘60s when she received a video from her husband, Mike. She stole a couple quiet moments away, trading her cubicle for a more private yet less sanitary bathroom stall. 

There in the bathroom, she witnessed a miracle. On her phone was a video of her daughter’s very first steps. Although she was excited by the video, her heart sank. 

Even though she was able to watch her daughter Nora’s first steps, she had missed the moment. Nora’s first steps weren’t towards her, yet towards the camera — and her husband, Mike. 

She had missed a major milestone — for a job that could replace her tomorrow. By the time she was on her drive home, she had already promised herself that she would never miss another milestone.

Along the whole drive home, she played through scenarios about how her husband would take the news about her quitting her corporate job. As the breadwinner for the family and supporting two households, it was a big risk. 

But she knew in her heart, she couldn’t continue on the path she was on and feel present for her daughter. 

Martha’s Edison Moment

Coming from the tech sector, Martha had a good understanding of search engine optimization (SEO). So she decided to create an at-home business focusing on teaching small businesses how to apply in-demand SEO strategies. 

She registered with the Chamber of Commerce in her area and started giving seminars only to find out that the small business owners in her town would rather have her due it — and at a fair price. 

By the end of the month, she had already replaced her cushy corporate salary and never looked back. In one month, she went from a breakdown to a breakthrough, and the rest is history. 

Expanding Her Horizons

Since 2016, Martha has expanded her horizons. 

She started a successful marketing agency. She has designed courses for others looking to start their own home businesses and has even written her first book for Simon & Schuster entitled The Home-Based Revolution.  

In her book, she explains the roadmap that others can follow to build their own successful entrepreneurial journeys. These days, she is living life on her terms, witnessing every major milestone, and earning money through multiple income streams.
